Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth of independent film, video, and digital media in the Northwest Territories. Established in 2001, WAMP supports local filmmakers by providing access to equipment, facilitating workshops, and organizing events like the Yellowknife International Film Festival. With a mission to promote northern stories and digital media arts, WAMP has become a pivotal part of the creative landscape in the North.

The challenge

WAMP's original website struggled to effectively communicate the breadth of its offerings and the vibrant community it supports. The site's outdated design and complex navigation hindered user engagement and failed to showcase the organization's impact on the northern digital media arts community. Additionally, the website did not adequately highlight WAMP's events, programs, or the opportunities for artists and filmmakers to get involved, leading to a disconnect between the organization's dynamic activities and its online presence.

The Solution

The redesign of the WAMP website focused on creating a user-friendly, visually appealing platform that accurately reflects the organization's vibrant community and diverse programs. The new website features a clean, modern design with intuitive navigation that allows visitors to easily explore WAMP's initiatives, upcoming events, and equipment rental services. High-quality imagery and engaging content were strategically used to captivate the audience and provide a deeper insight into WAMP's role in nurturing the northern film and digital media scene. The site now serves as a compelling digital hub that connects artists, filmmakers, and the wider community, promoting greater involvement and collaboration.
